JiFFest Milestone

1999
The first JiFFest ever. With a seat occupancy rate of 70%-89%, we were assured that there are people who can appreciate non-Hollywood movies.
2000
The premiere of The Year of Living Dangerously, the first Australian film made and distributed by a major Hollywood studio that was previously banned in Indonesia. The film was given a ‘pass’ certificate by the censorship board only a couple of hours before its screening.
2001
Asian Short Film Competition in collaboration with NETPAC (Network for Promotion of Asian Cinema) gave awards to:
1st prize – The Greatest Day Dreamer by Liew Wai Ming (Singapore)
2nd prize – Wired by Chung Fa Yang (Taiwan).
2002
A record of 38 documentary films screened. 2002 also marked our initial co-operation with the human rights Yap Thiam Hien Award Foundation.
2003
In-Docs and JIFFest held their first Short Documentary competition.

The winners are :
• Best Film Award – Bade Tan Reuda (Lexy Junior Rambadetta)
• Special Jury Award (shared) – Saya Rasa Ini Sulit Untuk Dihilangkan (Danial Indrakusuma)
• Special Jury Award (shared) – Atin (Erian & Yoga Krispratama)
2004
JiFFest SHORT FILM COMPETITION.
This year, a short fiction section was added to the bill.

The winners for short docos are :
• Youth on The Edge, by Lexi Junior Rambadeta
• Pagi dan Edelweis, by Dendy Chusnawan
